village on Sept 4th , 2016 to showcase their social commitment and celebrate
this year’s Onam with kids at Agastya Bala Samskara kendram, Pothode,
Kottoor, the School which is run by Sevabarathi for the kids of Kottoor tribal
settlement colony. A team of 25 members from VSC visited the school and had
Onam Sadya with the teachers, children and their families. VSC also donated
the kids with Study aids, new dresses (Ona- Kodi) for the teachers and
kids. The school authorities mentioned about the lack of basic infrastructure at
the school and VSC has offered to build a Toilet for the schoolhouse.
This sojourn was a novel experience for most of the techies and was touched
by the life of people living in the tribal village. The team had to travel through
the forest for 15 kilometers by jeep to reach the Kottoor village, a settlement
colony away from the urban pollution and amenities.
VSC is planning to conduct training sessions for the educated youth of this tribal
village for PSC and other service competitive exams. VSC hopes to engage
more techies in these plans, encouraging to participate in social services.
